Well I think it’s finished apart from fitting a voltage reducer so the 24v truck can pull the 12v trailer. Long story, no, I don’t want to convert the trailer.
I have spread one load of lime with it by my house. It went well, took the undulating grass field very well. Just a couple of tweaks needed on the body mounts.
With a full 9.5t of lime on board she grossed just under max weight on the rear axle and well under max on the front. Drove a treat on the road, very smooth and went through the gears beautifully.
Ive been short on updates lately because everything has been grinding slow to get finished. We had major problems with the AgLeader screen and rate controller not communicating with the new hydraulic valve, but with enormous amounts of effort from @MrHappy and Pearson Hydraulics we got there in the end . Thanks to Thomas Burton and Sam at Precise Solutions too.

i would put masking tape on the actual hoses then spray galv all the fittings and valve. procote bright zinc i find the best quality. the only thing that will stick properly to zinc fittings is more zinc! (without etch primer at least).

ive used these before when i had a 24 volt and a 12 volt pickup. work fine. just a easy like for like swap on the trailer, then you can tow it with whatever you like.Pete I'm sure you can buy dual voltage LEDs?

Good stuff Peter, a whole new world in warning messages awaits you with the Merc.
Looks better on 750s than I though it might, we did similar to you with the mudtrappers, just used stainless instead of stockboard and they do a grand job.
Watch for lime settling on the rear hangers, in by the brake adjusters on the rear axle, and inside where your Rockinger bolts to - it's a bit of a bugger how it sits in those places because you tend to get quite wet hosing it out of there.
The turbulence seems to suck it in everywhere, the brake valve on our Actros has aleady sprung a leak from corrosion (and they're talking $7500 for one of those!) but that's probably fert and not lime-related

Most led lights are 12 to 24 volt (in fact i bet there's very few aren't) so unless there's more complicated electrics than lights on the trailer get them changed.Pete I'm sure you can buy dual voltage LEDs?

I will change them in the winter, just running out of time now, combines busy round here, I’ve got 700t on for the next few days already and the forecast rain hasn’t arrived here so I guess more ground is being cleared today.

Thanks for the tips Pete, just the job. I know what you’re saying about the turbulence, sometimes makes the spreading look all wrong but if I slow down just a couple of km/h it cures it.
Had a warning light yesterday about a faulty bulb. Buggered if I can see where that is.

Speak with South Cave Tractors they have sourced an adaptor which plugs into the Commercial 24v socket and gives a12v output socket. We have them on our Mogs v simple

They seem to have a weird testing system for the lights, eg one of our trailers (if plugged into the Actros) gives a reversing lamp warning every time you use the service brake, and there are no faults with either the truck nor trailer in question
You'll also get "top up washer fluid" or "top up coolant" warnings if you get on a lean, amongst quite a few other ones. They are good trucks though. Solid and stable

I’ve bought an adapter. Paid for it last Thursday on a next day delivery direct from the Durite factory. They called on Friday to say TNT had taken it to Edinburgh. Chuffsake.

Used to drive Mercs & had plenty of bulb faults with the lights working as they should.
Mentioned it to the local commercial garage & he told me he keeps a box with bulbs in it just for Mercs, said if somebody fitted a bulb with the wattage even slightly out they will throw up a fault.

Beautiful day in Warwickshire. First time out with the Zetros. Put 120t on near home. Used .62 of a litre of fuel per tonne spread, very pleased with that. That’s about half the Xerion usage and slightly less than the Big A. Early days but quietly happy at the moment.
