hi has anyone removed the cab from a case 4240 need to know the procedure for disconnecting the gear linkages, the cab is rotten has anyone put a xl cab off a different model onto one of these, ie from a tractor that has the gears on the left side

Be aware that, although the XL cabs look similar, the lower parts of the cabs, particularly to the rear fixings may be different. The problem that might arise would not be having the correct plate or modifications to the cab in the evenent of an accident.

ok ill try and get some measurements only difference i can see is, new cab has diff lock pedal, hydraulic levers and gear levers are different, rear bottom glass has hole for levelling box lever, surely a cab that is not rotten is safer to have in an accident than one that is held together by rust

There's a cab for sale on somewhere at the moment for a 4240 etc

looks tidy enough is that plus vat im in northwest scotland so would cost a fortune to get home but anyway i have a cab now and not buying anymore!, my new cab came off a 885 so if that one is advertised as fitting a 885 then i should be ok? i believe the backend is the same on them
