CS and SFI re BPS

Was doing the cropping field by field for BPS, and there is no Land Use code for CS. Rang RPA twice about this and was assured that land in CS and SFI is fully claimable for BPS and so the full area of the field should be included. We have one field which will be all AB9, so asked how to get it into BPS along with the rest of the scheme. After much discussion I was told there must be a way to do it, put the CS areas in as FA02 Fallow.

Obviously this is not strictly correct but without proper codes for these schemes there is no alternative to get full area for BPS. Particularly don’t want to be short of area this year as the next years payments are all based on this claim.

Anyone else come across this problem?

use the mixed cropping code. Thats what i do for AB9. can’t remember what they are. AC 58 rings a bell. Have a few forms to complete. Better make a start.

I assume that you have done this in previous years with no problem ?

Good idea, that would be closer to the truth than fallow. I'll change ours to that I think.
Yep. AC 58 been my go to code for bird food for years. There are more mixed cropping codes which allows for separate coding of different Options. Been really helpful.

This is the last year of BPS. Going forward you will receive de-linked payments based on your BPS payments between 2020 and 2022. I suggest you read this; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/delinked-payments-replacing-the-basic-payment-scheme

untill this year i did grass strips as tempory grass but the rpa says in their guidence they sa same as the crop

i use mixed crop option for any thing i cannot find a code for

the issue that defra and the industry will have is that their statistics for crop area will be over estimated giving a distorted total harvest tonnage and market disruption when we run out of grain in june

It does seem strange that. Bit of a kick in the teeth for those who took the lump sum exit scheme given:

"Your delinked payments for 2024 to 2027 will not be affected if your farm size changes, or if you change what the land is used for, after BPS 2022. You can receive delinked payments even if you choose to stop farming."
