Our new(ish) parlour

Your dairy has the same name as me and someone wondered if there was a family connection, none that i am aware of .
Ah, yes. Did you email us about it a while back?
I'm not sure where the farm name comes from. The farm wasn't originally here, but a little further down the chase. I believe it was called Maidstones farm then. A few generations back our landlords family had enough of the flies around the house, so moved the farm, as one does! I've a photograph somewhere of the farmhouse here pre move without a farm around it. There is an old map of the parish in our village hall and it shows there area where the farm is now as 'Colletts' so it must mean something.

Big trip out this weekend, we now have the space to make ice cream and hopefully a bit of cheese at some point too. Lots (more) to be getting on with now.

Three milkers and a calf added to the herd this week. Certainly doing their best to fill the tank.

I get nervous when it gets to the top of the paddle, that's a lot of milk to sell tomorrow.

First customer to use the vending machine after our test results came back clear.
Having bottled milk everyday since July 2018, customers saying we should have a vending machine. Now we've done it, those that I spoke to today tell me it was easier for them to just pick a bottle out of the fridge.
Oh the joys of dealing with the general public.......

Ice cream making is go!
Been selling for 10 days or so now, already proving popular.
To my suprise the best selling variety is 'Just Jersey', which is the basic base mix of milk and cream with no other flavouring. We've other flavours, such as the sour cherry and biscoff as pictured, and Sophie has a slightly different recipe for a chocolate ice cream too.

If you ever need a chief taster I’m willing to offer my services. You might need to cover my travel expenses though…
