PTO guard rant

I've never seen or taken a pto guard off to grease the yokes. Much easier if nipples are on outer face but can be got by twisting round. Usually its the tractor arms that catch on and wreck guards

I did get a cake from one of my valued customers.
i assume yours will Be hand delivered at the weekend. Don’t want to invalidate that warranty do you 😉
I got a screen shot before you realised your mistake as you mentioned the dreaded “w” word and will have a word with her scaryness about firing the cooker up😂👍

Here we have it ladies and gents, lifetime warranty of anything sold by Mr Dave W provided he gets an annual cake,

Although I do see a slight flaw too much cake may actually reduce the lifetime warranty😱😱🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙈🫣🤔😂

@Dave W i spoke to head office. She says for a years unlimited use warranty your welcome to pop down the shop and buy cake and on receipt of an invoice she will reimburse you.

but do make sure it’s supermarket own brand and not mr Kipling👍

With a continental drawbar there are plenty holes for the chain .
I have one of those new style walterscheid pto and guards on my chipper, greasenipples on the outside and you only have to chain down one side as the guards can not turn on the pipes. A revalation though I don't dare to look up the price.
Contrary to popular opinion on here I think any machine that isn't used stationairy doesn't need a guard, apart from when it is prone to wrapping.
4wd driveshaft don't tend to be guarded either.

If you're close enough to get wrapped round a 4wd shaft you've probably been driven over

Had a similar opinion of the twin tub strautman feeder wagon I used to get tasked with greasing as the shaft and gearbox guards were that tight there was no way of getting between them to access the uj's so ended up removing bits with the pocket knife to get any access. Even then it wasnt remotely close to easy as some were burried in the spider, while some were on the end caps.
In reality who the hell would go scrabbling under a feeder wagon while it's running to need such an excessive level of guarding

Alas it often surprises me what some people do still end up doing from time to time.

I don't mind a pto guard so long as it's a half decent design. I know they make quite a few different models, but Walterscheid have been some of the worst PTOs and guards to live with in my experience. To be fair to the one on the fert spreader, it is still in near enough full working order after nearly a decade now of being ****ing awkward to get on and off to daily grease.
