FETF grant

Iv seen it with more than one trimmer, maybe whole herds in a couple days not ideal but men pushing cows to them to, No trimmer used here, <5% of cows lifted a year for 3 consecutive years. No dry off trim either

I just mean lazy has invested considerably into his track infrastructure I’d be expecting to dividends
We get about 5-6 cows a yr now with WL issues. The rest of the trimming is due to lack of ware. Cows spend about 6hrs a day on concrete due to farm lay out and walking our tracks so the need to model out to avoid ulcers is always there.

I’ve got a grant for collar system which will do fertility and health, and heat recovery. Hopefully both systems should more than pay for them selves but will cost nearly 20k for a 5k grant. I’m not worried about taking the grant not spending does more damage to the economy. If you do your own trimming a new crush is a no brainer, if anything it will just make your life easier and you won’t wear out as quick 😂 unless you already have😅.

others need the money far more than me.
The disparity in wealth in this country makes me very uncomfortable. Particularly over the last couple of yrs. we have had an extraordinary run whilst others are choosing between food and heating.
Oh, I see what you mean

I suppose grants are important to invest in business for the prosperity of the economy which without doing so those same people choosing between food and heating will ultimately be worse off. Admittedly this grant is only having a small benefit to the prosperity of your business but that's ok because its only a small grant!

That is a very noble stance to take but until I see you passing in a Bentley or flying overhead in your helicopter on your way to Sandbanks to fire up your Sunseeker to head for the Med for the weekend I think I can forgive your frivolous excesses when it comes to an upmarket cow crush.

BPS was about the best way ever invented of stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. Reverse wealth redistribution.

was also a good way of controlling 90% of the farmed land in the country without having to set new laws, some unelected bod behind a desk in Whitehall could get most of the farmers doing star jumps at the click of their fingers.

Now it's all going to be penalty notices and prosecutions.

Going to be interesting

We got a trimmer in and did them all at drying off for a few years, made no difference whatsoever. I just trim now when 1 becomes lame, which is about 1 a fortnight out of 300

See very few sole ulcers now when I lift lame cows since we started doing everything once a year at drying off. Nearly all WLD and punctures from bloody stones

Got a grant for one of those mobile water trough jobs with a 2000 litre tank, are you allowed to make or have them made for the grant? Companies making ‘grant spec’ equipment seem to know how to charge!
