GFC disgrace: Here's what NFU, AHDB and RT have signed us up for

@Grass And Grain how many members has the BFU, compared to the NFU? How much lobbying power does the BFU have? Can you provide some examples of things that the BFU has done that benefit us farmers (not just things that have been said)? Not having a go I’m genuinely curious. If you want the RT board to be BFU people… the BFU I think might need to be bigger and more powerful?
The issue BFU has is that its doing eveything behind closed doors and unless you are a member you do not really have any idea what they are about/doing.

They certainly need to open up the BFU pages on here to non members to be able to read but only BFU members with an active membership number can post on those pages/ threads.

I know BFU have had a lot of problems with a certain TFF NFU member trying to undermine the BFU but they cannot let that one member affect growing the BFU.

Also be a good idea to get some clothing lines/ pens etc printed off with the BFU and links to the BFU pages printed off and given away at shows/livestock markets/ trade shows etc.

The thread in which @AHDB responded to questions regarding their livestock levy increase has been locked. I do not know why?

Within it "they" (whomever the AHDB paid to provides answers) insist that they have been calling for a review of assurance schemes prior to this utterly contemptuous debacle which has been uncovered

Someone answering the AHDB thread is either furiously back peddling, or already knew the shyte storm that would ensue when the content of the greening module surfaced

So @AHDB which was it?

Did you know RT and the NFU were selling our livestock industry down a deforested amazon river?

Will you back your livestock levy payers, and publicly call for red tractor to be disbanded?

Would you prefer 5% of your utterly furious levy payers call for a ballot on your future?

Will you publicly condemn the collusion between RT, the supermarkets, and the NFU?

Or were you part of the problem?
Why was the AHDB thread locked after the AHDB posted their answers @Bald Rick @Clive ??

The NFU are working behind closed doors doing a lot of work "behind the scenes" , its emerged it's even more behind the scenes then we even imagined.

I have no idea what they're doing as I'm not a member of the NFU. If someone wants to know what's happening with the BFU, pay your £10 and join up, get involved to help fight back again all the parasites.

@tepapa @Henarar I’ve always thought sedge food was quite well priced.. don’t remember spending a tenner up there!

anyway what do I get for my £10, that’s what isn’t advertised anywhere near as well as it should be.

You get a voice hopefully, if enough of us join.
They will not get anywhere near the number of members they could be doing so unless they open up and start informing non members what they are about/ doing on issues like RT etc!

A lot of people will not join up unless they know what the BFU is about/ how they can get their views listened to etc within the BFU!

They need to keep moving forward and i appreciate its being done by people in their own time but the BFU needs to be moving forward all the time.

I have no idea for example what the BFU response is/ what they are doing about this RT mess involving the AHDB etc?

Right, there are only so many farmers look at this Forum and I guess it is a small percentage of the farming community. So there are 2 problems, 1. how do we get the message out to the farming community regarding the WWF Basket and the GFC problem? 2. BFU, again there is only a small proportion look at this forum, so we need to get it to a wider audience. Oh sorry that is 3 problems.
Any ideas? Yes I am a NFU member and I Have paid my £10. But I have one or 2 problems the NFU are looking into for me, so I have chosen to fight from the inside starting at Branch level.

Your £10 gets you your annual membership to a fledgling union that is fighting back against the onslaught against our industry.

It needs members to show the numbers of farmers that are against the new proposals forced upon the industry. It also needs members that are prepared to help out with the workload needed to fight back.

If your after 10% discount off the list price of a new pickup, perhaps the NFU are your best option. Just remember the NFU are helping pave the way for the new regulations the supermarkets are expecting to be delivered.

@Grass And Grain what is written on the BFU webpage that advertises what your about and trying to deliver. I'm only asking incase the committee think there might be something to add to help potential members understand what they're getting for their £10.

the ones who could rock the boat a bit are cereal only who are using grain co ops. they could pull out today and it wouldnt affect sales due to the rules over storage in places like woldgrain etc

the next on the list would be anyone who is sold up for the year and dosent have any left in their own sheds

guess the spud boys could pull out after stores are empty

harder for chickens and pigs as they are selling daily/weekly a bit like the dairy folks
Sugar Beet boys could pull out making it a condition that requirement for RT assurance is deleted.
