We like to give everything a light coating of oil/diesel when putting it away for winter to keep moisture off and the paint protected etc. currently using a a spray gun off the airline but having discovered cordless tools and got various Milwaukee things on farm I was wondering if anyone has suggestions of a spray gun that matches the existing Milwaukee batteries For the job?

An old WW2 styrup pump took some beating.
I see there are some carefully worded adverts for airless sprayers "suitable for Makita batteries". How well they would cope with diesel and hydraulic oil remains to be seen.

One of my customers uses a B&Q fence sprayer, electric plug in thing, seems to get on fine with it.
He did blink a couple of times when I explained pressurising diesel probably wasn't the smartest thing to be doing while reminding him how his tractor engine worked 🤷‍♂️ nor covering hydrocarbon derived items like plastic & cables with hydrocarbons then leaving them exposed to U.V for months on end but hey-ho, he's happy.

Humour me please. What does oil/diesel do to plastics & rubber? I doubt it's much good.

Diesel degrades rubber - makes it swell then makes it brittle - Diesel fuel system O-rings are a perfect example.
Oil/Diesel will degrade some plastics in that they are the same family so may soften them or harden them & therefore weaken them more so if U.V's ( Sunlight) involved - bit like thinners/white spirit on paint - increases the break down of the composition.

Its strange because Hyd oil always brings up the old LR Defender wing extensions perfectly 🤷‍♂️

I use a Aqua systems knapsack sprayer from homebase. Use it to oil shuttering and anything. Works really well, had it 4-5 years now and only changed the hose
