Power harrow combination.

Alpego been a disaster up here. Know of 3 returned. Dealer given up franchise.

Horsch seem to be gaining ground. There kuhn power harrow
What sort of issues are the Alpego drills having? We're looking for a 6m combination/front tank set up at the minute to run alongside a Vaderstad and Claydon in place of a KV tine drill and I really like the look of an Alpego, mainly the simplicity of the single disc coulter design and how they are mounted (no complicated linkages or press wheels to cause issue on our heavy clay when it gets a bit sticky for the vad, we like to keep things simple!) I've spoke to several operators of the drills and power harrows, done a fair bit of research online and I think this comment is the first negative I've found so just interested to hear a bit more? Our agronomist put us in touch with a client of his who is running with 5000+ Ha on, we went to see him on Saturday and the drill/ power harrow was in good order with apparently very few problems, and his crops looked bloody well!

When you say lose a tine ? Do you break them or fall off? I must admit we are pretty lucky up in our area
Have done both, broken and lost completely. Tine holders have all been replaced. I would say I'm guilty of running the tines too low.

Used the Amazone HD tines last year and don't think I broke or lost any of them. Been using Kuhn power harrow tines before cause cheaper!

They would have been 4m drills, so perhaps 6m better.

I don't know what issues were, pretty sure they involved them cracking somewhere.

I could send you one of the guys telephone number if you want to speak to him about it?

Dealer gave up agency for them. Don't think there's for them up here now.

Pottinger on ADD coulters here is the best I've come across by a very long way
Rubber wedge ring packer unless you're on sharp stones is excellent - ours is 9yrs old and we've never had to adjust a scraper never mind change them
Discs last a long time and not daft money or difficult to replace
We've drilled some clart after spuds at times - never blocked a coulter
Control box so simple and intuitive even I can work it
Calibration a doddle and accurate
Adjustments simple and easy
12 rotors on the harrow make a better job than 10 on the green or orange ones
Built like a tank
£10k less than a Sulky Amazone or Horsch (Sulky good but dear and not great where big stones are present, Amazone too complicated, crowded and expensive, Horsch was a big disappointment in every way tbh, Lemken rep told me his drill wasn't the machine for our land)
Heavy duty following harrow is worth the extra

Weak points? Paint on the drill is a bit keen to rust, power harrow is ok.
Tines a bit expensive but they all are
Reliability? In 9 seasons outside of wearing metal (inc one set of discs and some wear strips on the side guards) we've had to replace or repair....absolutely nothing else.

Speaking to 1 of the mechanics and he said he was setting up a 6m with the same front tank on an 8 series jd and it was 17ft from drivers seat to front of tank, not a hope in hell of seeing at junctions, even cameras would be dodgy

Saw the new folding 4m horsch KR in the flesh tonight, hell of a heavy looking yolk, and then there’s the huge front tank 🙈 no idea how your meant to see at junctions and gateways 🤷🏻‍♂️
I thought it was you that was looking at ot with your mouth open !!!!
A far bit of kit but not so sure about that front tank , I bet the fencer is not short on work with that on the front
