Beet 2024

Oh how the tables have turned, I'm still patiently waiting to drill my last field which is heavy wet ground that just keeps getting enough rain to bugger things up.
We keep catching every storm and have had just over an inch again last week in total.🙄

Quick question

We normally drill beet on rowcrops -20 inch rows with a 6 row drill. This spring I splashed out on a set of 800 wide tyres for my spraying / drilling tractor (old fendt 716) They are still on it and I am loathed to put it straight onto rowcrops for drilling beet and T1. Will beet come ok behind the wheels? Light gravelly ground, ploughed this week. Once the beet is in I can put the normal 480 wheels back on for T1 and rowcrops

A lot are drilled round here on wide tyres.
A contract has a fendt 718 on 800s and that has 2 rows per wheel put into the wheelings. Other neighbours drill on 650s and they seem to come ok.
I can't even bring myself to put fert on post drilling on wide wheels but again most around me do and the rows that get run on come fine.

We drill with a tractor on 710 tyres without any issues, the drill does have eradicator tines fitted in front of the four units that follow the tyres though. In the past I’ve drilled with a tractor on 650 tyres and had no issues behind the wheels, just ran the coulters one hole deeper on the following units.

I finished today too. In the rain. And some earlier drilled looks to have capped quite badly.
2 questions for BS-
Why did some growers get cake as a thank you and others not? Did just the scabs get cake? :ROFLMAO:
More seriously- why did growers who had to have beet sent to cantley and newark get 75% of the extra haulage paid when those of us who were diverted to Wissy got none? Cost a lot more for me to get to Wissy. Seems quite unfair. Either none of us or all of us should have got the extra money IMO. Are BS trying to divide and conquer?

After what I've said to and about BS I expected mine to be laced with arsenic!!!!

Personally I do think BS are trying to divide and conquer still and it'll be interesting to see what tricks they've got up there sleeves for growers in the run up to next year's price being agreed.

Just think @flat10 if we (some of us, yours got lost in the post!!🤣) get cookies just imagine what the scabs must have got!!!!!

I have to say so far that's the only thing I regret about giving up on BS. I thought they might send me some for long service all the same.
