    JCB 520-50

Thanks everyone for your comments. It seems to me that there are two schools of thought - non factory fit with botched repair and factory fit with emergency exit . With your comments it now makes sense to me that it is probably a combination of the two ie factory fit glass panes, one fixed...

    JCB 520-50

I have an old JCB 520-50 (1995) and carrying out some maintenance and repairs. Does anyone know what the wire cable is running down the rear glass assembly between the two panes? There is a ring at each end connected to nothing!

Thanks you're right. There is some oil blowing out of the breather and I was wondering how to fix that!

    Gasket replacement

Hi, I have an old Ford 3000 (1970) which has some minor oil leaks which I want to stop. I am going to fit some new gaskets which I haven't done before. Is there any particular gasket sealant which I should use and do I apply it to both sides of the gasket and the edges which are to be sealed? I...

    Ford 3000 oil leak

Thanks Lincsman. A couple of very small leaks on the engine around the gasket. I’ve changed the oil and put in Lucas Engine Oil Leak Stop. It’s seems to have done the trick. I also have a small leak from either transmission or hydraulic systems, from where the two blocks are joined. I wonder if...

    Ford 3000 oil leak

Not sure what you mean, it doesn’t spit oil out if that’s what you mean? It’s hard to see if it is blowing because it is right next to the radiator fan.

    Ford 3000 oil leak

I have a 1970 Ford 3000 with about 5000 hours. It is leaking oil from the crankcase breather pipe- not a lot, just leaving a couple of spots when parked up. I have changed the oil, and put in an oil stop. Also used 15w/40 in the engine instead of 15w/30. Why is this leaking and how can I stop it?

    Changing hydraulic oil

I don't really. It's just that I also have a JCB with 46 and it would be easier to keep everything the same. Also I initially tried to get the Bobcat 32 fluid which was specified in the manual and contacted a couple of dealers but couldn't get any - and they told me that they just used other 32...

    Changing hydraulic oil

I have a Bobcat 328 mini digger and I want to change the hydraulic oil. It is an old machine (2001) which I have bought and I believe that it is currently filled with HF 32 grade. I want to drain and replace with 46 grade. Is it best to have the boom extended fully and the blade up so that the...

    JCB 520 -50

I have an old JCB loadall and I am changing all the oils and filters. The manual says to also clean the hydraulic suction strainer. Can this simply be removed from the side of the tank by unbolting the cover plate or does the oil need to be drained first? The strainer is on the side of the tank...
