JCB 520-50

I have an old JCB 520-50 (1995) and carrying out some maintenance and repairs. Does anyone know what the wire cable is running down the rear glass assembly between the two panes? There is a ring at each end connected to nothing!

Doesn't look a factory fit from the way the glass is fitting

It’s there as a way of removing a panel of glass as an emergency exit in event of an overturn. It looks like the seal between the the 2 parts has failed at some point and somebody has repaired it with a bit of silicon sealant.
The rings should be one at top and one at bottom.
That's what I was thinking. I know some say JCB build quality isn't the best but that looks a homemade repair

Thanks everyone for your comments. It seems to me that there are two schools of thought - non factory fit with botched repair and factory fit with emergency exit .

With your comments it now makes sense to me that it is probably a combination of the two ie factory fit glass panes, one fixed and one opening with the emergency exit via the wire/cable. But the glass seals have failed and the glass dropped and someone has botched a repair with silicone. Not sure how the original joint works between the fixed and opening panes - is it just a plastic joint fitting with the wire cable inside?
