To what extent does a merchant/ mill rely on supplied paperwork?
They don't accept grain just because you've signed to say its dry and clean do they?
If they need to do some testing to check the legality/ quality of grain anyway, why does the supplier need to test at all?
You may be being a little 'soft', but that is no bad thing.
I'm sure, 'on paper', you should cash her in every time but it depends how much you value knowing its history/health status.
It also depends on how cheap and 'tight' you can keep her.
TB situation is another important factor.
I tend to...
I know I'm king of the miserable gits but looking towards the autumn;
If the price of killing ewes and lambs stay high, the cost of replacements will be eye-watering. With the prospect of another bad winter/ schmallenberg/ Blue tongue/ market downturn, it will be a massive risk buying many.
If...
I fear sucklers don't justify any expenses but the first cwt or so of fertiliser has got to be the cheapest source of forage if you don't have sufficient organic manures.
Bridgmans are very good.
Harpers seem to care about the quality of the goods they sell unlike MVF.
But I don't use Harpers since they have been such a proponent of pushing the idea of finishing cattle quicker to save the planet.
DP agri have been excellent but could be closing next month...
Of course you are right.
But I do wonder whether after spending the time and money on all that testing, you can really get things that much better without using several different grades of fertiliser and then having it all messed up by inclement weather anyway.
I prefer to keep things pretty...
You don't want to leave it lying for too long, it can start to really stick to the ground and be hard for the rake to lift.
In very good weather, it is better as the sward doesn't dry out so quickly.
I have not seen that written before but strikes me as a deliberate attempt to be comical rather than insulting. The kind of banter one might hear in a gay club.
I can't agree with that.
That would only be the case if you know the person saying it is trying to be deliberately racist or offensive which is quite rare.
And then I see no problem with deliberately being offensive.
When we wish to offend, the standard form is " You are a blinking X Y"
Where X...
I think we are all equally worthy of ridicule too.
Is a joke about a livestock farmer and pockets of baler twine any different than a lady with a Burkha.
Offense is taken not given.
I believe everyone is born equal.
A few achieve greatness.
A few descend to being worthy of being considered less...
It was my understanding that the term was considered to be very offensive.
It used to be regularly mis-used as a term for 'cross-bred' rather than the social class system.
It is one of the few expressions that I have mentally 'binned'.
I think this thread is an example of linguistic twister...
I'm rather surprised you used the term half caste.
But in terms of TFF, I think that like broader society, we aren't really that bias. We just over generalise and don't always choose are words carefully enough.
Is there anything more intolerant than finding someone that says "person of colour"...
It really depends on if /when the government admit/ realise that the current policies and carbon measurements for agriculture are wrong.
If they don't change course, in 5 years there will be very few livestock visible in the countryside, they will all be shut indoors.
Rural areas will have a...
The dairy industry should collectively defend butter;
Butter is a dairy product made from the fat and protein components of churned cream.
They can't let alternatives start using it on their labels.
I'd also love to see how you do that.
And surely that only helps 'engage' the head?
More often than not, when a head needs 'wiring', it is too help pull it through a tight channel when simply pulling doesn't help.
I can't see how you can do that from 'outside'.
