Never assume. Cereals has been held on a Wed/Thu for as long as I can remember, but I've just realised this year's dates fall on a Tue/Wed. Bit of a pain to reorganise other things that week. lesson learned. Wonder why they have moved the dates though? Tuesday used to work well as a first day.
Would you go down this route to do a few acres of grass on a stock farm each year? Or get in a contractor? Are balers at that sort of budget likely to cost more to maintain than a contractor would cost to hire in? Just wondering on past experiences with a troublesome mower. If f spending that...
Had a chance to look around both of these at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood last week. Is there anyone on here running the LR yet? And anyone tempted by the Grenadier when it becomes available next year?
Was whiling away some lockdown time last night by leafing through some old magazines, and I came by this old issue of Power Farming. Has anyone else here ever built their own tractor? Does anyone know the farmer in the feature? I’m sure someone told me a long while ago that they knew him, and...
While out today on the A134 road in west Norfolk I followed a New Holland T7 Blue Power - presumably a T7.270 or T7.315 - and a high-sided Smyth trailer. I know there are plenty of 50k tractors around, but my car speedo was reading 43mph when I was behind it, which by my maths is 70k. Is it...
A while ago I posted up a few old photos of former Herts Ford dealer Gates of Baldock. Here are a few from the late 1950s of Braceys of Benington, the old Herts International Harvester dealer. The branch was built to an old IH-specified design and still stands today - it was bought by Ernest Doe...
If spec is pretty much the same, which is the better bet? A three year old car with 42k miles for £18.5k (actually with a couple more trinkets like tyre pressure monitoring) or a four year old car in a slightly higher tax bracket with 24k miles for £18.75k? Both with full dealer service history...
Looking for a new car to replace 100,000 mile Volvo XC70, and wondered if anybody had any advice. One thought is to replace with something similar, but won't be buying brand new. XC70 design now a bit long in the tooth, and new V90 Cross Country a lot more money with few S/h models yet around...

Hope it's ok to post this here. Arter Bros, the former Massey Ferguson dealer in east Kent, between Canterbury and Dover, is clearing its premises, and has for sale a variety of genuine spares for the following:

Just looking through some details of the new 'tractor mother regulations' covering safety criteria that new tractors have to meet from Jan 1 2018. One of them covers a requirement for brake pedal latch detection. Made me wonder how much use is actually made nowadays of independent brakes. With...
As above - does anyone have any experience of and/or recommendations for simple guidance systems for a grassland farmer seeking to make fertiliser spreading and spraying easier?

Anyone here used to deal with them back in the day? Were the Ford dealer for Hertfordshire and surrounding areas until 1987. These old pics were lent to me by an old employee.
Does anyone here own or have good quality pics of any of the above - IH Roadless/County 4wd conversions, 2+2 Snoopy, Case or Case IH crab-steer, Case IH articulated tractors etc etc. I'd like to find some for a book on big tractors of this type.
