Does it have front suspension? If so there's a chance the accumulators in the front axle have failed, you can get them regassed.

I've had great experience with the Class Liner range, Currently using a 2900 which you should be able to pick up within your budget but check the tine arms for excessive wear on the splines. If it is going to need replaced anytime soon make sure you budget for all new tine arms in your negotiations.
