LAMMA cancelled

Well i woke at 5 heard the the tail of the wind, at 6.20 i checked facebook and twitter no mention of anything.

I set off at 7 and by 10 to 8 i was queuing on the A47 2 miles short of the A1 jct that que went all the way to the show ground, the A1 crawled south. As i left the A1 i could see cars abandoned everywhere i had already recieved picture messages but hadn't looked at them, then a friend rang her husband was an exhibitor and she just said turn round and go home they are kidding theirselves if they say the show can run today. as i did i saw two men fighting on the verge i dare say it was ho e owner who was aggrivated by the local traffic situation and the fact some bloke had parked his 4x4 pretty much in his front garden.

I have no issue with them cancelling the day but they will have had staff on site very early and the cancellation or at least do not travel notice should have been earlier, from what i have heard it was fairly obvious very early on it wasnt going to happen.

Have you not read the other thread about Lamma moving to the NEC and the prices some manufacturers have been quoted for stands?
I think we need to pay something towards it if it's difference between it happening or not.
Surely most of us wouldn't mind a tenner each for the privilege of being in a decent building and the show not getting cancelled at the last minute due to weather issues.

Been saying for years that an outdoor show in January is crazy, particualrly when you have an indoor show in July!

The problem with Lamma is it was a regional show which got bigger and was never really meant to have tens of thousands attending. FG shoudl know better though.

If they want to have a show in Jan, do it properly and pay for a venue.

Exactly!
Have anyone noticed how many agricultural shows or other outdoor events are held in January?
There is a reason. It's bad enough trying to run events outside in the summer never mind chuffing January!

Wasn't the cla show a few years ago? That held in the summer also I've been to cereals and the old Royal show which would of better cancelled due to bad weather due to to much rain.

Paying at the door is not as straightforward as it seems, usually the first £10 goes on collecting and counting the money as well as the extra security for all those who try to get in for free. Shoudl be easier at the NEC though as they are setup for it.

How much would people be prepared to pay? How much is Agritechnica?

Say that to the poor Italian guy I was sat next to having breakfast in the canteen who had come over especially.:(

Bet he would have found getting to the NEC a load cheaper and easier than Peterborough !

I suspect he will return to Italy thinking what a joke uk shows are

Very nearly had flights booked to go to this myself, glad I didn't now. Will hopefully get over some year.

Anyone for some cheap slurry equipment? I'd have snapped up the dribble bar if I could have.

I have never been to lemma or agritechnica. I almost went to lamma today, I am glad that something came up that kept me here. But off my head I can think of more people that go to Agritechnica than lamma.

Role on nec next year I might go.
