    Zinc sulphate footbath

I have 3 persistent lame ewes, they're destined for road but I want to get them right first. Can they be stood in a zinc footbath solution too often? Will it damage the hoof if so? I did them yesterday, first time using footbath as I'm trying to get away from antibiotic spray.

    Tyloma/interdigital growth

Preventing and curing lame cows is one of the very few things I think we do quite well. However, I have two cows with Tylomas, they both get a trim probably three times a year to try and take the pressure off it but it really gets to me when it looks like it is causing discomfort. They would be...

    Transition Cow Shed

What design’s and layouts of sheds do people use for new dry cows and in calf heifers through to calving. We’ve been a mixture of straw courts, pens and part of milking cow cubicle’s. Plannings passed for 100ftx50ft build. Any suggestions or pictures would be greatly appreciated. TIA

    Static sheep handling set up

Im toying with upgrading current static sheep yards as they are pretty much end of life and where they are is a wet spot so currently the holding pens are a bog. I will leave them in situ as they will be useful at times for smaller groups. So once I decide on location Im looking for ideas...

    Ireland Genetics

Who's used them? Considering it now Genus have the UK distribution license... Would they make sensible cows for an autumn block system? Target here (not necessarily what we achieve) = 600kg MS from a 600 kg cow, up to 2t concentrate fed to yield. Would they be too small? Get too fat on...

I’m needing to get into foot bathing my suckler cows to keep there feet right. Currently my handling pens are away up the yard & race is heading up hill a bit so not handy for a foot bath sitting level. The sheds are the same with cubicles one side then they walk round to feed passage either...

    Rotary Parlours

I'm in the very early stages of considering a new milking set up (still at the stage I come out in a cold sweat when thinking of the cost) I think the best solution would be a rotary for the usual time efficiency reasons and to provide a great environment to work in. I'm currently milking 330...
