Thats the Headline , Press & Journal our regional daily paper. I've copied the header as its a detailed story. No money but they hope to raise £25m by January.

Highlands Rewilding, created and run by Greenpeace’s former director Dr Jeremy Leggett, launched a sale on October 1 for land across its estates at Bunloit near Loch Ness, Tayvallich in Argyll, and Beldorney in Aberdeenshire.

Labelled a “fire sale,” the sale is taking place ahead of a deadline for Highlands Rewilding to pay off debt totalling £12m owed to the UK Infrastructure Bank and “top online partners”.

The organisation borrowed the sum in May 2022 to assist in the purchase of Tayvallich Estate. With an extension, the remaining balance is now owed at the end of January 2025.

Is it likely to be stuck with schemes that have to be continued.

@glasshouse could buy it & make it into a leisure area for city people to visit.

It does look that way. From "The National":

Highlands Rewilding is seeking buyers or investors who want to deliver rewilding at scale by investing in the three estates.“ While this is an open market sale, which encourages the interest of purchasers of all types, the preferred bidders are those who share Highland Rewilding’s vision for the future and are willing to enter into a long-term management agreement with Highlands Rewilding to supports its nature recovery objectives.”

Sounds like sale and lease back without the lease and Highlands Rewilding still dictating to new owners.

Just needs someone to make all the right noises, buy it then tell the current owners to sex and leave!

Sadly I’m just over 11 million short so I’m out!
My understanding of private sales is you can pull out right up to the point of signing at which point you could suddenly decide you don’t like all the conditions and pull out, which at the pace solicitors seem to work could be several months down the road..

That said there’s probably enough billionaires/ big businesses that are into the eco greenwashing bullship that they’ll easily find a buyer of their liking

If Scottish Gov hadn't splashed £17m on Glen Prosen to create a modern clearances then they(the taxpayers) could have had an oven ready wilderness at a knockdown price.
I bet a community buyout is on the cards to bail out Mr Leggett

It's funny you mention the taxpayer as we've already loaned those Highlands Rewilding jokers £12 million via the UK Infrastructure Bank.
