plough shock absorber for the depth wheel!
It's 350mm long with a 20mm shaft, all it does is stop the depth wheel wacking down when you turn it over, hardly very technical. It looks like a dumpy ram without any hose connections.
A proper hydraulic ram about the same size would be about £80 so where does the price come from?

As usual I'm caught by the g**lies because I need it tomorrow and don't have time to search about.

While I'm on this sort of thing, why does my JD dealer want about £50 to order something he hasn't got on his shelf? I can order something from Amazon and it'll be here tomorrow without bunging them £50 so why can't JD do it too?
They can't have it both ways.....save by having nothing in stock and then charge me £50 to get it.

I've got an overum DX with XL boards on and hydraulic headstock that I haven't use for years, that you're welcome to borrow, if you fancy a trip to near Yeovil....

A very similar damper on vogel&noot, don't know price or if it would fit though.

Have you tried DUNNS Ploughs for a S/H
Or Westlake ploughs?
Just a thought.

And people say KV are cheap to run......

Wonder what @Tractor_dealer would charge for said part????

incidently, the oil filled damper on our dowdeswell died a death last season, to fix it cost me about a quid, i simply removed the oil filler plug, drilled and tapped an M6 thread in it, and installed a grease nipple

now every time i grease the plough i give the damper a couple of pumps, and that charges it back up again!

That's what we did. it cured the damper which would have been mega bucks to replace.

Can't understand why these dampers are so expensive across a range of ploughs. I think the dowdeswell damper was going to be hundreds of quid. In the end though, the bushing on that great lumbering heavy old tail wheel got sloppy and it wouldn't reset properly so sold that DP7 and just carried on with the DP8 which is lighter and kinder on the tractor.

DP8 is nice plough, no damper on those depth wheels, just free swinging, but DP100S on DDs is the dogs danglies, heavier than the 8, but lighter than the 7, with a better depth wheel, parrelel linkage for the front furrow

wont ever buy another plough now we got the DP100 thats for sure

They got there in the end. Especially with the parallel linkage. Excellent plough.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
