They want control of the market to keep the pig price just above the cost of production.thats it 'jp' INTEGRATORS.....they want large units.....there might be a 1000 farms willing to take a 'punt' on a hundred store pigs

I’d say they have had that control for a long time , the farmers gave it away when they abandoned live marketing. .They want control of the market to keep the pig price just above the cost of production.

Not much, last time I looked 45 quid was top I think but that is still better than the cost to shoot and haul away and burn isn't it?How much are those cull sows making?

As I posted previously, large southern firm were offering 28 pence per kilo dead weight. So lot of sows will be coming back at between £30 to £35 a piece. From what can see its same for few going live weight in marts. But that will be only a few. How many marts sell pigs? I do not know what the answer is but know where problem come from.How much are those cull sows making?

still better than a bill for shooting and burning themI am aware of a local to me sow to end finished unit being decommissioned (800 sow places) started a few months ago and almost complete. The cull sows have made next to nothing.

My neighbour said he has been ending up with £8 a cull sow after stoppages. This was before the current crisis and was Brexit related as they go to Germany to be processedstill better than a bill for shooting and burning them
