12 volt transfer pump for sprayer

Will a diesel transfer pump work with agricultural chemicals? Need a 12 volt pump to pump from front mounted tank to rear sprayer. Submersible pump I had has packed up and need a replacement. But might convert to external pump so the wires remain dry. But which pump do I go for , need 25mm ports?

Agrochemicals can be corrosive, so something more specialised is needed. Fuel pumps won't have enough lubrication to last long. How much is there to pump and how fast does it need to be? Hydraulically driven centrifugal pumps aren't that expensive. Diaphragm pumps are better and more versatile. Do you need priming or will gravity be enough?

Hi Brisel had a look at your website but they are to slow, really need a pump about 60litres a min. Gravity will work fine , it has to be electric because I don't have any spare hydraulic spool valves

I’d agree with Brisel and say the pump seals and impeller probably won’t be up to it. Not long term anyway. Metal and chemical not a good combo.

If you want a volume 12v/24v pump, with non-reactive plastic internals then I’d look at an AdBlue pump. Designed for handling urea without chemical interaction.

Something like the Suzarra Blue pumps from Piusi perhaps....

Something along these lines perhaps...

£189
35 litres/min.

Consider two of the cheaper pumps in parallel, so you always have one.
But suction pipe from the back would be best ...........

on our first front/rear sprayer combi we had an extra 3cyl diaphram pump on the rear unit driven by a v belt and pulleys off a through shaft on the main pump. just used a diverter valve to agitate/transfer. worked well.

If you put a 3 way valve in the suction side of your rear pump you could suck direct ftom the front tank and spray it as you go, the excess would return to the rear tank, or let it dump it in the rear tank, then spray it out.
Think that'd work.

I rarely pumped from front to back, I simply opened valve when back tank was at 50%. Pipe to front was teed direct into rear pump intake so pump sucked from front and rear at same time.
On hills i left valve closed until rear was25%

Pump used more when using front as a clean water tank..

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
