Hi All,

Has anyone had any prices for a 120x40 cattle shed with 10ft cantilever roof and 20ft bays or similar ex works? Would be looking at 2 high panels on 3 sides similar to a typical shed options but have to have 20ft bays for access against an adjoining shed. Had a quote and compared it to the readily available kits scaled up for size and +30% for higher quality but still over and I think it's a bit too much so any help would be appreciated.

Supply only?
Sorry I see you put ex works.
What thickness of steel and panels?

150mm/6 inch panels, 1200mm/4ft high with yorkshire boarding for the rest of the skin.

254x146x37 stanchions
254x146x31 rafters
254x146x31 cantilever

The original price quoted includes all groundworks, and installation of the shed (just not fit out of gates/barriers/lighting/etc) but its the shed kit portion that seems too high even when allowing 30% extra compared to typical kits for parts like the larger cantilever and thicker panels.

As a guide for pricing look at the Graham Heath website and their 'offers'. 100x40x15 livestock building £25,500. I know not quite what you are after but will give you an idea. Your spec is probably slightly better than what they are offering. They will also do a quote fairly quickly for a more specific ask.

That’s a big cantilever, I bet that adding most of the cost. You sure it’s 10’?

This is one of the ones we are basing it on with a 20% larger size and +30% on that for the added quality and its still quite a way out.

The days of getting a pleasant surprise when you open a quote for building work are long gone.

There was a thread running in the spring which might help you.

Had quote of Graham heath construction and Robinson both do offer sheds 100*40 looks better job. Always find someone to put them up probably be someone on here knows some one👍

Have ordered a lean to recently and if you want to get cheapest price then order the roof, cladding and purlins yourself. Only get the steel work from the manufacturers.

I missed a line in our shed quote which meant one end of lean to was not clad in.
100% mark up on prices I had obtained locally for rectifying issue.

Yes everyone has a business to run and profit is not a dirty word but some margins are hard to swallow.

Thanks this is exactly why I'm a little nervous of the price I have no problem with a reasonable profit margin (agree its not a dirty word) but when adding in the works costs (in the full quote) and +30% for quality on materials that I think I'm leave everyone a reasonable margin and covering out requirements.

Where is the best place to get big six roof sheets, we a looking at re roofing a shed

Im up in Aberdeenshire and use Briarwood as they have a local yard, have used cembrit in the past who have/had a yard in Leeds as was best price even after delivery added.

Ring around and get prices as some distributors are keener than others and workout if you are getting leg lifted by some.

Neighbour had
110x40x14 15ft Bays half Apex style (Other side to complete in future)
Heatguard roof
Yorkshire boarding
One side door
Concrete panels 4”, 1 back & 2 sides (20 panels)
Erected
£31k

Save a fortune just getting the firm to supply the steel and buy and erect yourself.

You didn’t mention rain water management. If you’re having eaves beam gutters from Shufflebottom, that will add a lot to quote. They’re very, very good, but are costly. Last quote I had, a few years back, they were £400 per bay.

The difference is when you are putting up the shed.
The ability to pick up the pieces and fix then straight in place without any cutting, drilling, notching etc is worth a lot if you value your time.
