180-220hp Tractor Ground Clearance

Are there any tractors which have a particularly good ground clearance for trailed sprayers in relation to others? Need to leave the drawbar on as its pulled from the pick-up hitch.

We have a MF 7718 Dyna-VT which because of its Fendt back end, drags its hitch even in a 12inch furrow on standard wheels. This one is particularly bad, but are there any others which are particularly good? Any colour considered.

I can't remember what size the row crops are but we had to jack the cab up to get them under the mudguards. Really a question as to whether there are any particular makes or specifications that have a particularly good standard ground clearance compared to others? Our bog standard spec MF6480 is much better than the VT 7718.

I find Fendt very good for ground clearance. Both the 800 and 900 series. Not looked at the 700 closely but think they are similar.

Other one I’ve with good clearance was jd 6170r. Not 7r or 8r. They are rubbish.

All on tallest tyres available for them

I'll measure my 7618 DVT - its on 14.9r46 rowcrops, and is fine really. We have a set of 16.9r46 wheels too, worn by the 7620 on the harvester, and 7490 at spring, which are a bit taller.
Valtra 8350 on the 16.9r46's is the best I've seen for clearance, especially with its smooth underbelly.

Of the old skool stuff, 956 Case IH & Ford 5600 had the worst ground clearance, MF399 & NH8340 the best.

Has your tractor got the Bennet uniglide hitch like the green ones or is it fitted with the Dromone push out? The dromone will give a bit more ground clearance and trailer drawbar height due to its design.

Valtra from 8000 to T3 series, i've heard that the T4 doesn't have quite as good clearance, but still should have one of the best clearances amongst new tractors.

Thanks for all your replies. This one has the dromone hitch but still way lower than the Dyna-6 equivalent. Hitch needs to stay on as I swap implements regularly. I'll have a look at the Valtras

There's options with a valtra from what I've been told by a friend of mine who has one it's got a forestry spec hitch for maximum clearance in spud beds but it doesn't go as low for picking up low drawbars as the other type they fit so definitely worth asking

KB6930 makes a good point.

There are three pick up hitch options available for Valtra, two are non-hydraulic and one is hydraulic push-back type (Dromone). The non-hydraulic will give you better ground clearance, and can work well if you leave you trailer eye sitting neatly on a block of wood. However if you need to "dig out" the towing eye, then hydraulic push-back is the way to go. But you do give up a bit of ground clearance (needed to house the hydraulic mechanism).

Valtra has excellent ground clearance, historically driven by the Nordic customer requirement to take the tractor to work in the forest during winter, when the fields are under snow.
