2008 massey ferguson 5460 3 tire fuel problem runs ok fo 5 or 10 mins then dies changed fuel filters could it be seals in the top of square water filter or gauze in the diesel tank does the hand primer give trouble if its gauze in tank do i have to take tank off would be grateful for some help thanks..

hi their thanks for your reply sorry i have no access to software it starts ok runs for 5 or 10 mins then loss of power and stops not rough.. will start again its like air problem thanks

no error codes coming up drove the tractor today it didnt stop completely just loss of power have heard the seal on top off square water filter gives trouble cant get seal till mon tue thanks again

Have you changed the filter in the square water filter housing

I bet that filter is choked black.

It could be the suction pipe from tank. I blew one back to the tank once with compressor. It proved that there was muck in tank so when I had time I took the tank off.
I also had bother with the seal on the bottom of the fuel filter where the glass jar attaches. I turned the rubber washer around I think.

Had a 2011 5460 with the same problem when it was 2 years old. Beast of a tractor but little thing would always go init. After countless times back and forth from mf dealer workshop they pin it down to fuel injectors had gone! From then on I use a additive in the diesel to protect the injectors on current tractors. I know of many 5460 had same issues!! Hope this helps

It not injectors normally if it starts fine .
The small square filter if you dont put all the washers back on the small bolts that hold the cap they can bottom out and suck air .
Also if it's a perkins make sure the rubber seal is between the primer filter and the plastic bowl.

hi boys got massey ferguson 5460 sorted the small bolts on square filter lid had no washers on them i put new washers on them and square rubber seal was knackered. replaced all seals primer filter and plastic bowl just to be sure. all so blew suction pipe back into tank all good now sorry could not get back sooner and thanks again lads for your help....
