No cut or graze. But doing the maths, it pisses on both the herbal lay and a pure ryegrass silage field. And I don't get crap yields of that either.

I'm not fully up to speed, but I believe you can leave a legume fallow down for the full three years.

Even at today's bank rates, I can flog all the gear and have three years off.
The way I understand it, it's a 2 year ley but you have a year to get it in, do you can get the full 3 years out of it. 🤞

Not sure. I'm supposed to be having a look today, but I'm so sick of seeing my fields out if the window that I've driven to town for an all day breakfast.

I'd be looking to put it in this coming may or June so the land is as clean as possible.

I think that's the loophole, apply now, drill in the spring get your 2 years then back into a wheat 3 years from now
I could be wrong.

Still going. Heavier than ever. Local river about to spill over the top. The effects of maybe just short of 2" rain on freshly drilled, tender clay is not pretty at all.
If the rainfall radar predictions is anything close to right the heaviest rain of the day is still to come and set in for a good few hours yet. 😢

Do you have a roof over your farm? 🙂
To be fair, we're just a week offset from you guys. We had the wet Wednesday and 50mm last Friday night and Saturday. The crops drilled on proper land the week previous are as sad as you fear.

It doesn't look bad on the surface now, after a bit of wind, but a delve with the penknife doesn't end well.
