If you are feeling as doggo as you are coming across take a break go see something different for a couple of days and dont talk to folk about farming then come back and tell us what youve done and seen .Im incredibly lucky cos when the going gets tough here mrs 4 course gets even tougher and we have always got through whatever has come our way . best to you and yours
Mrs teslacoils is making me go away for a fortnight. Got a delicate preem on this morning. Few double headlands. Pelleting this afternoon.

Have written off 35ac to take its own chance and will either use as green manure or silage it. 60ac that was for wheat will go in in spring with barley or Legume fallow.

Few folk having a go today.....few folk wishing they hadn't digging drills out. It's not beyond thinking that 75 percent of winter wheat and barley won't go in this autumn round here.

It’s absolutely crap over here too.

Rather than thinking about the weather etc I fecked off to the cinema last evening.

Watching Denzel Washington gutting some mafia types in Italy along with plenty of pretty Italian places and ladies on show is a great distraction.

The rain will stop sometime.
Damn good film I paid a fortune for it on Prime! He did gut them well tho!

All drilled up here now. Easy ground the last 2 days and winds have dried it nice. And rolled.
Good luck to all with stuff still to go in.

No pre em on any of it mind.... .

Tied up cleaning Quinoa today, had to be done ASAP, so missed the last opportunity for a while. Not too concerned about going into November with wheat and beans, but got 50 acres of winter barley left to drill which is a worry.

all this 2019 talk it's now't like it here, even sprayed a piece of failed rape off and going 2nd wheat , should finish drilling in the morning, pre em's up to date but had to leave avadex out on the the last 50acre. agrono say's leave anymore pre, eming till this rain's past, i hope he's right! might have time to muck a couple of cattle yard's out before the rain, it all sound's to easy , we alway's want another dry day it would of been nice to of had a day lifting fodder beet! ;)

Drilled my last 10 acres. Almost pure sand. Went OK. Well, we’ve tried our best and I’m sure a considerable amount of it on our heavier ground that we drilled before the 40 mm rain event might not make a viable crop but I’m not bothered. There’s always spring and maybe some more grass will go in. I’m entirely satisfied we did our best and made the most of every opportunity so I’m content whatever happens.

" . . . very uncertain, depending on the exact position of high pressure . . . . . and of low pressure"

£1200m well spent then.

One thing that stuck with me from working in Iran was the idea of “the hand of Allah.” We mere mortals can try our best but ultimately the success or failure of any project will be determined by events outside of our control (weather etc) determined by “the hand of Allah.”
Whether my wheat succeeds or fails is now largely down to “the hand of Allah.” I like that concept. It shares the load.
