Is it really getting worse ?
My great grandfather always said that winter wheat needed to be in by 10th of October on this farm, and they were using horses then.
In '85 the last of our wheat was put in from a Vari spreader on a tractor that was also towing another with a springtine on the back to cover the seed. The barley on the farm in Scotland where I was working in the spring never was combined, it was mown, baled and bagged (no wrap in those days) for whole crop.
Every year is different.
aye '85 buggered the tattie boys up here.

Tbh a month ago I was quite upset. Now resigned to it and making spring plans.
How are you getting on with said spring plans... agronomist has told me we cant get any extra spring seed other than what we planned for in october - one field of spring pea and barley intercrop...

Hopefully find some seed elsewhere, or i suppose home saved will be the only way. Quality of that isnt the best though this year, oats have a fair amount of the wild variety in with them...

Also the option of legume fallow. Might be worth considering if all else fails.
