2nd bite at RHI payments?

I was chatting today with my heatpump guy as we were having an issue with ours.

The course of the conversation moved to lifespan of a heat pump. Ours feels a bit like Triggers Broom, with several problems over the past 10 years requiring replacements, some under extended warranty, some not... When it was installed, I was advised by one possible supplier, that I should work on 15 years... The idea of a new HP is not unreasonable, albeit not cheap!

What intrigued me was that apparently, it is possible to install a a new Heat Pump, (maybe a new ground loop/manifold) and start the 7 year clock on the RHI payments again. For me it's also that fresh 5 yr waranty, and better technology that appeals a lot.

Ofgem domestic ground source payment still about the 20p/kWh

Biomass is the one that's been slashed. Down to 6ish from worthwhile 14p/kWh.

Ok not sire then. I know with commercial They insisted on new kit in some cases so they may get sad if you swop the pump but leave the rest?

My guy suggested a new HP and Manifold on the ground loop, along with fresh anti-freeze/water could be enough.

I tried that originally, but the application was an absolute bloody nightmare, I even had the Local Valuer involved as regards waht was business and what was domestic property, but in the end, I just let it all drop... took the domestic money.

I think small scale district is/was still viable, but not looked into it for over 12 months now....

I was trying for PP for two starter cottages built alongside two farm cottages and heat them all with a GSHP district plant setup.

Couldn't get PP, so dropped it.
