Not here I hope. My part of this small island is full but despite this is being concreted over apace. Local infrastructure is at breaking point. Not to mention the future shortages of water and electricity that WILL occur in the SE soon. Nor the fact that building in many parts round here relies on flood protection, funding for which is declining. :(:banghead::confused:
I think we should encourage emigration myself. (joking but it has its pluses, remember hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, they sent the most important people ;) off in the first spaceship......:D)
Anyway who is going to benefit apart from a few farmers who get wodges of cash (and then reinvest with rollover and fudge the ag land market further) and some spivvy developers? I am very depressed at the prospect. Its back to the days of Mr Prescott concreting over the South. (n)

Why are they bothering..... thousands of houses struggling to sell ( look at Rightmove ) as it is.
When the interest rates go up and the debt bubble bursts (which it will) there will be half finished developments everywhere like there was in Ireland a few years ago. However my concern is that they may have concreted over the SE before that day comes.........

Thousands of houses are already planned in the S.East and permission already granted.
The small market town of Hailsham will double in size in ten years.

Loads of houses being built in villages as well as permitted development on farms.

The biggest problem will be that the Polish builders are all going home.

The worst thing about these new builds is that they'll be shoddily put together and it will be tiny, probably smaller than a Victorian terraced house. There is unlikely to be any off road parking and the streets will be so narrow (with parked cars on either side) it'll be tight for most modern cars. The really insulting part is they want you to cough up a least £215k? for a 2 bed new build terrace in this part of the world.

It would be no great shame to build on half the land, given UK government doesnt like us and Joe Public seem indiferent about supporting UK food. Build everywhere and lets have a prosperous service-based economy.
