4 metre hydraulic folding power Harrow

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to buy a new 4 metre folding power Harrow and looking for some advice tips and experiences with Kuhn, sulky and lemken power harrows. These are the three nearest dealers in the area. Will be going on a fendt 724 and working in heavy clay ground. The lemken has 4 rotors per metre and I’m sure the Kuhn has 3. Is there much difference in power and finish between them. Thanks in advance

5m folding Kuhn here, was looking at 4m but 5 came up at a good price, good machine, nice level finish and don’t regret the bigger machine. T7030’s handle it ok, T7.235 well on top of it so be fine on 724. Not used sulky or Lemken so can’t comment on those.

I have a 4m Kuhn (non folding) and a 4m KV (folding) I know your not looking at KV but what I will say is the Kuhn with 3 rotors/m copes far better on stony ground and is easy to drive (I usually run it on a 6520). The KV with 4 rotors/m tends to drag large stones and takes more driving as your pushing more soil (run it on a 6215r), however it does make a finer seed bed and does it quicker the the Kuhn.

Heavy clay ground you definitely want the most rotors you can get I wouldn't touch h a lemken amongst our stones but if I was on clay it would be near the top of my list

Bought an Andy guest refurb 4m folding couple of years ago for a contracting job where access is an issue on some very stoney bank sides. Brilliant decision got rid of a knackered old 3m maschio and half decent 4m rigid amazone but needed either another 3m or folder for access so but the bullet and got the 4m folder. Guest refurb as good as new at more sensible premium over a rigid to new but took him a while to find a suitable donor to put through his process. Agree a couple less rotors better on stones and finish just as good in my opinion swooping gears about made bigger difference to get slightly faster rotor speed but not crazy fast to allow stones to clear.

My son bought a 6M folding Mashio drives it with a MF 6490 the PH makes a good job and the driver likes it mainly for contracting so folding is very handy. 6M and 8M will be better for spares just put another 3 or 4M harrow on.

Do you have to a front weight on front on the 5 metre? Have been looking at the 5 metre but feel if wet year the extra weight will go against me
