My dieci telehandler has plant based 46 hydraulic oil
It's bloody expensive and not always in stock
Been told I can't mix it with normal hydraulic oil
Anyone have a different opinion?
Cheers

eco hyd oil you mean? dont see why you cant drain it out and fill with normal HV46? the 2 oils may not mix well but the machine should run on either.

Surely it is impossible to drain all oil as there is significant oil in rams that cannot be drained
I don't use a lot of oil but I buy from lubricant specialist which works out ok on price and he does not sell Morris

Bio hydraulic oil and mineral oil does absolutely not mix.
10-15% might be ok but i wouldn't chance it...
Foaming, filters clogging and air retention are some problems that show up with mixed oils.

If you want to change oils the standard procedure is to first drain the cylinders and then the tank, fill up with a bit of mineral oil and then run the other side of all the functions after which you drain the tank again.
Now you can fill up with mineral... This should result in having maybe 5% bio hydraul left in the system which is acceptable.

When converting new machines to bio we used to fit all the check valves and pipework etc first then drain the tank and filter, fill with some bio to get machine running and then drain and fill again with bio. Never had issues with them thankfully nor with the bio we drained out and re used elsewhere come to think of it......
