4G internet

I Currently have a satellite system through Big Blu on my AD plant, it works fine when it is working, but once again it is down this weekend and there is no back up. And it is expensive at £62.49 per month.

We have recently got 4G locally and it the coverage seems ok by the AD plant through a phone.

My question is would 4G be a realistic alternative to the satellite, the connection is used to send alarms via email, and to allow access to the plant via teamveiwer.

I would say yes but 4g can be a temperamental connection and ours has only just settled down after a few years. Sometimes it used to freeze the iphones data connection until rebooted but it seems to be better now.

Only one way to find out, the equipment isn't too pricey.

Ours is rock solid
You need a 4G router that takes a data sim card
Something like this - get an unlocked one so you can use on any network
Huawei B593s-22 LTE/4G Unlocked UK Plug Wireless Router - White (150 MBPS)
Others are available

Couldn't you try this on a monthly PAYG SIM before dropping the satellite? Which network is the 4G with as that will limit your choice of SIMs?

Would have thought if it was just montoring a AD plant the data useage would be modest -20gb a month - maybe
As above , it`s kids / xbox / streaming vids that hammer the useage.

There was me thinking it would be about 2GB! I have 5 years of emails, about 55k and that is only 20GB. Surely only the teamviewer would put and big data through it. That said an umlimted SIM on Three network is on/y £20.83 a month. 2gb version is about £6 a month.
