575 overheating

We have a massey 575 (see earlier post) that runs our mill at the moment. It used to run a JF80 forager, but the thing always overheated and they had to keep stopping to let it cool down. Now I'm thinking something like a thermostat would have been changed early on, so what could this be? Obviously they had a bloke out to check it back then, so simple things are probably all out. She's a 1980 two door red cab

Thanks

With that age of tractor. I would have the radiator recored. And for the price, I would fit a new water pump, thermostat, hoses and fan belt. While the pump and hoses are off I would remove the bung at the rear right hand side of the block and flush it out too.

Would any of that have caused it to happen about 2 decades back when running the forager?

Doesn't much matter what happened 20 years ago, or what I would guess your problem is. Get a non contact thermometer. Check the temps going to the radiator and coming back when it's overheating, that will tell you what's plugged up. If you can't figure it out, post the temps here and then I'll guess.
