I bought some new asbestos in the late 90s. Certainly plenty used till the mid 90s.

Really why would you buy asbestos roofing in the late nineties when people were becoming well aware of its issues and we had to mark all the buildings which contained it on a map?
Fibre cement would have been available and I imagine no more expensive?

It was cheap and we have lots anyway, a wee bit more won't really matter. Asbestos roof sheets are just about the bottom of the hazard list re asbestos anyway. I was astonished to learn from a demolition contractor (while standing next to a pile of broken sheeting) that shop ceiling tiles were lethal. Hence a full filtration unit plus decontamination unit for the men as well as the sealed container for asbestos all to demolish an Esso garage shop.....

Yes I was told that asbestos sheets as used in buildings were actually quite safe? I might be wrong but are there many instances of shed erectors from the 70's dying from asbestosis? There was a factory not far from here and i was told that the broken sheets were sold to local farmers for making up the tracks who hammered along them making loads of dust in open cab tractors.............

Most sheets after mid 70s are fibre cement tbh
Don’t hold me to that and get tested if worried but don’t think it was used as late as people think

Agree (but like you i am sketchy on dates).

I know we have a slatted shed, built in 1977 which is fibre cement (y)

I'd need to ask dad if that was a preferred option or just what was used. But the same company put another 2 sheds up identical within 3miles of here at the same time, as far as I'm aware they are fibre cement too.
