6130 or 6135 John Deere

I am currently looking at buying a 6130m but the difference money wise between that and a 6135 is very small, has anyone any experience of 6135, not one local to me that I can look at, the 6130 is lively talking to farmers who own one but the 6 cylinder wheelbase is probably steadier on road and on draft work. The 6534 John Deere was never popular but in the m range the 6145 is also 4 cylinder so 6135 is not out on its own so to speak. Absolutely any info on 6135 would be greatly appreciated. Tia f1

Is 6135 the 4 cyl in a 6cyl frame ? Personally if I wanted a 4 I would stick with short frame, hang a big weight on front when you need it. If I was going for longer wheelbase I would go 6 cyl. Currently run a 6150r and a 6320p

What would the disadvantages of a 4 cylinder in a 6 cyl frame be? Smallest 6 cyl in m series is a 6155m which is overkill for what I want tractor for.

My local dealer said that's it's a vast improvement from the 6534 but I am sure a 6534 with a remap would be great as transformed my 6430 with a DD remap.

Just been enjoying a demo of a 6130r today. Biggest issue we had was wheel slip at the front whilst none on the back. Had a 900kg block on the front and I recon that it needs the weight of a linkage and the weight out on the linkage to get the most out of the front wheels. Of course the 6135 would solve that. Other main observation was that the engine needs to be putting out another 15hp on draught work (no IPM). Of course a remap could sort that.

Just my opinion, but if I was going for a 6cyl frame I would have a 6 cyl engine. Can see where the op is coming from thinking a 155 would be overkill. I stepped up to my 6150r from a 6520.

Lad who I bought our 6630 off replaced it with a 6135M and loader, better balanced than 6130 on loader. Lad who is on it misses the 6630 note but he is quite happy with his 6135 mainly pulling trailers and feeding animals and a bit of bailing. Its harder to see the loader when hooking up buckets but I guess that's what you get with the fugly bonnet.

Cheers BB

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
