Customer has a 6920 where the pto has stopped. He says the internal splines have worn away where the pto stub goes in. What sort of job is it to replace this. @Phil P @Tractortech . Tia

Ok so nothing to be wary of inside like bearings or gears dropping? If you only use the 6 spline just remove the circlip and weld it in. And if the teeth on both stub and hole have worn away you might weld it in anyway if you want to get going, you need to replace both parts anyway.
However replacing is very straight forward, just undo the bolts on the back, then attach a sling to the toplink holes to hang it from. Put a long pipe on the pto stub to balance it and just slide out. Don't forget to take off the gear selector. Depending on the model you van slide the connecting shaft between transmission and pto pack in afterwards, and some models you need to be very wary of an o ring that seals the actual oil to the pack, or it won't build pressure o switch the pto on.
I would like to stress though: if you do only use the 6 spline, just weld the stub in. I did it on 3 JD's. Easy peasy, no problems.
Does welding damage the seal or do you replace it?I would like to stress though: if you do only use the 6 spline, just weld the stub in. I did it on 3 JD's. Easy peasy, no problems.
