6r spool valve indents

Just bought a 2nd hand 6r with 1x 100 scv and 2x 200 . Non of them will stick in float . I'm guessing the 100 one doesn't have an indent for float . Neither of the 200 ones will stick in float either and only one will lock in pump when put into the motor setting .
Speaking with the dealer they said to pull it apart and clean up the little ball bearings or the balls may even be missing if someone has been in there before . So pulled it apart today but could not see how to get the top bit apart , even had the whole rod that goes through the block out thinking maybe the balls go in there, anyway rand dealer back who looked up my specific tractor on the computer and said that they no longer come apart like the old ones and you have to have a complete new top part at £297 .
Looking on google it look like the older ones had a small black cap that you rotate for motor mode and underneath that a green collar that would house the bits with the ball bearings in that could be serviced . On mine the black cap is twice as long and once off there seem to be no way to get the next bit apart , which is what the dealer says .
So nearly 600 quid to fix what would have been only a few quid on the older models to sort seems bonkers ,and so my question is has any one managed to get one open to fix or know any tricks to get them working again ?

Fairly sure the 100 series spools have float too, I've never driven a new Deere with no float. My 6115r would keep jumping out of float after a few seconds, I had to adjust the cable by taking the side panel off and simply adjusting. The way to check it was just the cable was by taking off the black twist thing above the spool (just by pulling it up) and then you can operate the spool that end by pushing the bit inside downwards. Operate the spool with the black twist cap off and you'll see what I mean.

If there's any oil in the cable they won't go into float on some of the older ones I've seen me drill a small hole to let the oil out if it's been leaking into the cable and they worked on for years

I had trouble with a 6920 a while back, don't know if any of it is relevant:

Thanks milkloss , unfortunetly they don't make them like that any more , it's a sealed unit now like this

Hopefully though it may just be stretched cables as Sam n says otherwise it's £297 for number 2 in the picture

One the 6140r I drive at work, I did have a cable break this year. She's done over 9000 hrs but it was working fine until it broke

Thanks for your tip SamN . Just tried it by pushing down under the black cap and the float detent works on both spools 👍🚜
I'll adjust cables later .
