I've always adjusted hydraulic fans by Altering the tractor flow, or as you say the oil will cook, and other services may be starved of oil supply

Yes it will damage tractor hyds as the oil is dead ending.

Open the regulator on fan and slow tractor hyds down, as you are forcing oil against the regulator on the motor all the time which will overheat the oil imo

Accord fan regulator is a bypass, I always closed it tight and controlled oil at tractor

we always try to adjust the oil flow on the tractor. On a CS you need different regulators matching a open or closed center hydraulic system. Reckon it's similar on the JD 750.

On top of this we use the heated oil for warming up the air on the air delivery system. Very useful in later autumn to have a radiator on the air intake of the fan. This helps a lot, especially when you also apply fertiliser on your drill.

Oil will overheat, and the life of the Hydraulic motor will be greatly reduced. The coupling seals however should not be a problem.
It is also important to have a large enough free flowing return from the motor. If it is too small Oil and hydraulic motor overheating will cause problems.

Slight deviation, but 750a fan query. I recently had a demo of a 6 m machine, and noticed that the seed distribution was not very good. You could go up a slot finding no seed for 2 feet and then suddenly find a lot all bunched in about 6 inches length. Would an incorrect fan speed cause this issue? It was running at 4200rpm.

4200 rpm is recommended speed. I doubt this is the problem unless it was fluctuating wildly. Was it on all coulters? My guess is that one or two of the seed tubes need re- routing to get better flow down them.

You've missed one, there are three. The one you've missed is the press wheel arms bearing. It's in the slot that the T handle for the gauge wheel depth moves in. Grease them once a season with Severe Duty grease.
