A County Council increasing its farm estate

Where are they getting money from?
All the sec106 money is it with housing?
They have sold off quite a few smallish plots adjacent to built up areas for development think this is the farm estate dept saying they deserve a small part of the proceeds to keep the estate size relatively stable. S106 money all comes with conditions, the only part of the County Council that normally gets a slice is the education dept for school extensions

Several Cambs residents up in arms about council buying farms but I believe that they,in common with many other councils have ‘invested’ in shopping centres. Not quite sure how I feel about such merging of public and private TBH. Very complex

South Cambs Council bought an empty office building as an investment, also were rumoured to have bought the freehold to a diesel engine factory, great idea with govt phasing out petrol/diesel Against that CCC buying farmland looks good

Local authority here bought a load of industrial units and a Travelodge in Wakefield / kirklees etc before covid. I'll put ten pence on those going in a fire sale of slashed value assets.
