This is competition for our size trucks I think, from the video. As for “death trap” ..... Landrover had no problem selling those for 60 plus years

Yesterday I read a review on the new MB X-Class 'premium' pickup - £38k plus extras.

Nice if you like that sort of thing - but I can see our 'commercial' tax rate for private use + diesel going ever skywards. Again this penalises working folk who use the farm truck as a means of transport off farm. I can't get six kids + dog + nanny in mine

They never had to subject them to a crash test. They should have been an embarrassment to the brand. Defender only really met 1980 standards with a few add ons to make it look as if they at least paid lip service to their customer’s safety.

Is that not why they had to stop Defender production?

Yes, but the government extended the deadline many many times. There was no reason to extend further when the armed forces decided that their staff deserved better protection, probably because they were afraid of litigation if someone was hurt when the Ministry knew that its crash and rollover protection was sub-standard at least two decades ago.

The F150 is not much bigger than the Ranger. It is certainly a good deal shorter than that Jeep.

Anyone seen this one:

They only sold them as Iveco for a short time and production ceased many years ago. There are a few in the UK and I remember going to a small demo by the importers some considerable years ago when they were called Santana. Its basically a derivative of a SeriesIII Land Rover and the company actually manufactured the split-case manual five speed gearbox fitted to factory V8 Defenders circa 1985/86.

Pretty sure that Iveco/Santana ceased production about 20 years ago when they found that there was hardly any market for it.

Indeed the Santana factory made landrovers, and Suzuki SJs, amongst others.

I'd like a PS 10, 2.8 turbo and leaf springs, I'm a fan of simplicity.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
