A plea to tractor drivers.

We met a horse in our local village today in our car, could see the horse was a bit fidgety so the mrs stopped approx 30m away and the car switched itself off. The rider approached very carefully as the horse was getting quite aggitated, she just walked by us and didn't even acknowledge us. I was really pee'd off. This is the flipside to it

I drive my cycle to make friends not enemies but a lot drive like they dont like cycles , I keep to the side give way on narrow roads and if I come behind a horse slow down and ask if they mind if I pass, making sure they know I'm coming, we all have to use the roads, so learn to get on,be polite and helpful
One lorry driver did nearly kill me , overtook me on a widish road and pinned me to the ditch , going flatt out, had plenty of room on his side , hes been upset by a cyclists somewhere for sure

To be fair the horses were using the road before you were born. "Live in the country, expect to put up with things that happen in the country"

Farmers can't have it both ways
Maybe so, but abit of common sense on the riders part wouldn't go amiss, theres plenty of road ends they could walk in out the way but they carry on regardless of artics or the digester crew when they are running.
The other thing that ryles me is if your dog fouls and you don't pick it up, you get fined,, when neddy drops it dinner all over the road, nothing is said and if a motorbike hits it, they could easily come of

Let's not bring up farmer against riders as a lot of farmers ride , but does a farmer brush the road when his cow poos on it

You don't have to clean up after cattle on a public road, either.
Farmers are wonderful at telling people they (farmers) can do what they like because "we were here first" but don't like it when the tables are turned.
Sounds like a case of "don't do as I do, do as I say"

I've horses up and down my road several times a day during the Summer in groups of up to a dozen. Never had the slightest trouble with Debbie in over 30 years, or Hilary who was groom before her. However another lot started up a couple of years ago that would block the whole road for ages and I had to have a few choice words with her. Debbie from the well established stables clashed with her far more than I did. Thank goodness she was the here-today-gone-tomorrow type that really wasn't committed to the job that she couldn't really do. Changeover day today [Saturday] so no horses.

There's total bell ends on both sides.
I farm next to a large race yard with very highly strung horses (50+ at the peak) and I am always very cautious and stop every time I see them riding out unless waved on even tho it's all but impossible for any of the riders to ever lift a hand to thank me .

The worst thing with the race yard is they ride out at 7am every morning rain or shine , fog or dark except snow or ice and often 4 horses wide without any fluorescent / hi vis wear on and half a mile along a very heavily grown in road and have caused many , many accidents and I found myself in the middle of a group of horses by accident in seriously heavy fog one morning at less than 10mph and they should have never been out .
