They might value farmers and food more ?
that’s my hope anyway.
I am so disillusioned with the desire of the government to push us towards non food production, not against environmental schemes but I think they have got the balance way out?
it’ll come home to roost by 2030 when they realise shipping food 1000’s miles isn’t that good for the environment and we are paying through the nose as a captured market.

Speculation that 2024 might be the year when China decide to have a pop at Taiwan
IF that happens, we ain’t seen nothin’ yet … as Bachman Turner Overdrive so memorably sang

I have the same fear. How will the west react to a move like that? China can’t afford for the west not to buy from them though.

Xi has stated that Taiwan is part of China .. no ifs or buts.
USA has publicly stated that they will defend Taiwan.
China May calculate that NATO have weakened their arms stocks by supplying Ukraine (& Israel) so the time is opportune ?

Relying on the rest of the world to feed Britain if this nightmare comes to pass should be focusing government minds

Not sure defend is the right word, similar to Ukraine they have said they will come to Taiwans aid if China makes a move which basically is the same as with Ukraine, Taiwan will sacrifice soldiers & America will supply the arms to do it although without a land border that won't be so easy.
If China really intends to do it then it will be after US primary elections start in March when they will ratchet up the pressure, Biden is not going to go to war with China as well as Russia & the Middle East whilst trying to get re-elected, it will be interesting to see how the Taiwanese vote in next weeks elections.

UK governments see UK farmers as becoming a by product with plentiful cheap food coming in from war zones such as from Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand & any additional beef from the Americas, we are in danger of becoming irrelevant to UK governments other than as wild flower growers.

Nope. Defend.

Pictures in todays Times of Grunts training in Hawaii in preparation for defending Taiwan. Remember they carry out joint exercises every year (as they do with S Korea).

"Defend" does not involve troops on the ground or America going to war with China, remember what Biden says ain't always the truth.

Do the US and China have a ‘Taiwan agreement’?

US President Joe Biden’s claim of a ‘Taiwan agreement’ sparks confusion as Beijing ramps up military pressure on Taiwan.
do-the-us-and-china-have-a-taiwan-agreement

Sound familiar

The US is quietly arming Taiwan to the teeth

Russia has what China wants the Taiwan thing China could sort that before a coffee break.

China is watching the Ukraine/ Russia war and seeing Russia is using all and losing its defences.
China will take Russia when it wants they are not worried about food supplies.

This has been what China has been waiting for a long time
