A vision of farming in 2030

Not sure defend is the right word, similar to Ukraine they have said they will come to Taiwans aid if China makes a move which basically is the same as with Ukraine, Taiwan will sacrifice soldiers & America will supply the arms to do it although without a land border that won't be so easy.
If China really intends to do it then it will be after US primary elections start in March when they will ratchet up the pressure, Biden is not going to go to war with China as well as Russia & the Middle East whilst trying to get re-elected, it will be interesting to see how the Taiwanese vote in next weeks elections.
So you will follow your standard logic blame the USA if the CCP launches an invasion of Taiwan. As you say the Taiwanese elections will be interesting as will you reaction. You speak as usual as a voval man with a UK passport from a sleepy part of South West England, hardly frontier country. Oh how easy it is to pontificate from such a lush position.

Might not be any farming here in 2030.
Big landowners will be living on taxpayers money while Chinese tourists fly in to stay at leisure complexes on their rewilded estates. Farm managers will probably be driving tour buses or making the beds and cleaning the toilets. That’s the present vision isn’t it?
All food other than a few niche products will be imported. I’ll be showing folks round my museum of 1950’s grain handling and storage facilities if it hasn’t fallen down by then.🤣

Seems to me it's the USA that is pretty much front & centre in stirring things up, as you say it will probably make little difference to our sleepy part of the country other than the effects it will have on farming for the next generation to deal with.
Just interesting to see how all these countries that the US have recently liberated end up looking.

Xi has stated that Taiwan is part of China .. no ifs or buts.
USA has publicly stated that they will defend Taiwan.
China May calculate that NATO have weakened their arms stocks by supplying Ukraine (& Israel) so the time is opportune ?

Relying on the rest of the world to feed Britain if this nightmare comes to pass should be focusing government minds
Just make sure we have the arms to blow the three Gorges dam will deter China.

Making sure that Russia is not allowed to steal Ukraine will deter China.

Trump winning would be like hanging out a white flag to all the World's despots.

Trump is tough yes, very tough on the weak & disadvantaged.

I don’t make my own bed, I’m certainly not cleaning toilets, and my driving is awful, so I might be in trouble☹️

UK governments see UK farmers as becoming a by product with plentiful cheap food coming in from war zones such as from Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand & any additional beef from the Americas, we are in danger of becoming irrelevant to UK governments other than as wild flower growers.
Who are Australlia & New Zealand at war with?

I think we should be farming, but if the UK prospers & more of the world becomes democratic, I'm more than happy to have 15% of my land farmed in an extensive way.

All this talk of self sufficency is nonsense anyway, when we rely on inputs from abroad. Although we should be mining our own potash.

"A vision. For 2030"
EA will have ditches even more blocked up🙄 ground more flooded after any shower !

Ppl will have evolved to using their appendix again to chew on the nutritious bark on all these trees 😋!

Anyone who had appendicitis might struggle
☠️...
😏
I really hope you are wrong. Surely after the flooding this winter, questions will be asked about dredging & draining.

Give it time, if it happens China won't be buying from either Australia or New Zealand.

Being in a war zone is our unfair advantage though

"Defend" does not involve troops on the ground or America going to war with China, remember what Biden says ain't always the truth.

Do the US and China have a ‘Taiwan agreement’?

US President Joe Biden’s claim of a ‘Taiwan agreement’ sparks confusion as Beijing ramps up military pressure on Taiwan.

Sound familiar

The US is quietly arming Taiwan to the teeth

Can't be that quiet if we all know 😂

Russia tried to invade Ukraine and failed.

Taiwan is a country separated by a lot of water from China and Taiwan are armed to the teeth and well trained. An invasion by China would have to cross the ocean and that stretch of water is a complicated place for a navy to operate. It's not an accident Japan, Korea, Australia and the like are quietly sorting out a submarine fleet and building amphibious ships.
