Accommodation on dairy farm

Whats everyone doing for temporary housing on there dairy units? I know in this area there are a mass of static caravans. Currently on my unit there’s no housing so travel to and from. Local authorities will have none of it regards planning so wondered about something for time being? Any advice would be appreciated. Some local vocal objectors so jfdi is out the window

I know you have tried different agents but I would highly recommend acorus what they don’t know about planning really isn’t worth knowing really worth having a chat with them

Anthony Atkinson has just got us planning for a house on our greenfield site dairy after local agents application was turned down.
Turned to them as I had used them to get planning when another local agent failed to get planning for my house on another site. Should have gone straight to them second time but thought we where doing right working with a local firm.
Think Anthony will cover your area if not they will have someone that does.

Make friends with someone who sits on the committee will be about the best way.
Planning is frankly a bloody farce and has little to do with the actual regs and everything to do with who likes you and who doesn't.
Can you get letters of support from neighbours etc?

Is it that hard to get ag tied cottages built? It seems relatively easy round here. I can think of 4 new ag tied properties being built locally, all for genuine farm businesses.

Perhaps because housing is so dear locally the council realise there is no other realistic option.

Have you got an agricultural planning consultant to write a report saying how it is needed to have accommodation near the dairy etc?

the reasons for refusal are the objections by "incomers" who want the countryside to stay as it was 50 years ago, and secondly they are insanely jealous of the fact that you can build a house in their countryside, while they had to pay over the odds for theirs. and of course they haven't stopped any young locals from buying in the village.
I could write a book on our experiences.

No ag ties in Scotland now which didn’t make any difference I was more than happy to tie. Used all manner of consultants, architects, agent and specialist law planners. Think as been mentioned my face didn’t fit or maybe no brown envelope.

Can't offer any experience sorry, just seems nuts that you can't build a house where you have cows.

Being nosey, how did you end up in this situation?

Being helpful, a general use at shed would fit a fair size log cabin in:whistle:.
Short version time came to farm or not. Built a small greenfield dairy on half the home beef/sheep farm. Believe in doing things gradually. Now after 5 full milk years have the beginnings of a dairy. Next step required so calf shed up and working, next cubicle shed planning passed. At this scale a 3 bed bungalow on site was proposed as the numbers and frequency of visits would increase again, kicked out told by umpteen people to remotely manage cows nowadays an utter nonsense. Rant over:D
