Back crank seal leaking into bell housing ,is it much of a job ,doing it , obviously split it ,and may do clutch ,will put spigot bearing in any way , is it sump off ,

That is spot on. If its rope seal make sure you put the top and bottom halves on in the correct places there is a drainage cut out in the bottom one. If its a lip seal there is a special tool that pushes the seal further in to sit on a different part of the crank. Either way its more than likely oil being leaked passed a dried out and hardened cork seal at the back of the sump.Don't need the sump off to replace the crank seal,but you might find the cork seal on the end of the sump is the culprit rather than the crank seal. So it would be the sump off for that.
Depending on the age,you may have a rope seal or a lip seal.Can't say for the lip seal type but if it's a rope seal,the backing plate needs to come off and then the seal housing is in two halves.Soak the new seal in oil for an hour or two and roll into place,leaving the ends protruding about 0.5mm. They shouldn't need trimmed.
