Adding molasses to a mixer

I have an alvan blanch 1 ton mill mixer, I am looking into adding molale to knock the dust and help the minerals stick to the barley.
I'm looking for the best way to add it to the mixer tho, some people have a dribble bar into the top of the mixer, others a pipe to tje bottom. Of the mixer.
Looking to include it at a rate of around 5%
Any tips and advice would be helpful.

Ours is piped from top and works well. Basically a bar that runs through the mixer, with holes in it. Keeping it clean is pretty important but easy to do👍

our old 1 used to have a tank with a pump on it next to mixer with a dribble bar, use a superior mobile mixer now with ibc on the back and it just trickles into mixing auger from ibc with a gate vale to control flow

What size pipe do you have running through?
This had been my 1st thought until a saw a couple with tanks piped to the bottom, when do you add the molasses?

The tank is fixed on the side of the mixer, with a 2 inch pipe on the bottom, that pipe is fixed on too a 1 and a half inch pipe that runs through the top of the mixer, giving a slow even spread of mol in the mix.we usually add the protein blend first then the mol.

Thanks for that, do you find it gums all the mixer up, the nutritionist has suggested a molasses called molale 60% dry matter, tells me it's ment for home mixers so flows well and shouldn't gum up

Yes, we bought a wide chisel to go in the SDS drill for regular maintenance.

Ask EDF Mann who are the molasses people and explain what you are doing and how you do it, they will know which product to use. You don't want to get molasses wrong, believe me. You will only ever want to see a molasses mars bar stuck in a trailer once in your life!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
