Agriculture claims more and more of the world’s water!

Shouldn’t be a problem for him, but perhaps it’s running out,

We rely on the meltwater from the Sangre de Christo mountains to the east and the San Juan range to the west, we are in a largely flat 8,500 sq mile intermountain valley between these two ranges. This water then flows into two aquafers stacked in an odd way, one above the other.
The local ski resort (wolf creek pass) reports 325 inches of snow thus far this winter/spring season. The Rio Grande river rises a few miles to the west, the water from these two sources supplies the irrigated portion of the valley.
Over the past decade or so measures have been enacted to balance the amount of water flowing into the valley against crop requirements.

People are ridiculous with their priorities , this another perfect example 7 or 8 months of rain ,water gone down the drain ,
How stupid we are.
Yep 6 weeks of dry and you'll be on hose pipe bans.
More storage needed, all new builds should harvest rainwater, irrigation ponds built etc.
And we're back to property developers again 🤪

Look up the long term level changes for Lake Mead (the reservoir behind the Hoover dam). Much of that is used for farm irrigation.
Just for balance. When the hoover dam was built, Las Vegas had a population of a little over 5000. Today it’s closer to 650,000. That’s just one city in the south west. Maybe millions of people living in a desert isn’t the most sensible thing for water conservation.

It will come as panic sets in a time or 2 , big water tank to add to the solar panels will get as much importance as a fancy kitchen with down lights and boiling hot water instant tap.

It's those that can't afford that tank let alone a kitchen that will suffer as ever.

At least Nil growth or better still reversal ie less population would be the answer as we all know.

Cut the garnent according to the cloth .

Trouble with our small island ( Uk),
the , “nimby” attitude carries so much leverage I do wonder where planners in ENGLAND will ever allow any large above ground reservoirs to be built.
A very serious situation considering how much extra water is needed NOW for new houses, industry and agriculture, yet alone building water storage capacity for future needs.

every person on average uk consumes 149 litres a day in the south east the average is nearly double for some reason, 75 litres per person in this house of 4 people . 4 x showers a day , 5 loads of washing a week, used here , don,t ration use etc etc,,, what are people doing to use so much!

It really is about time people got a bit more clever than make stupidly simplistic statements about water, carbon, methane etc.
There has to be some context applied.
It's like creating rules to preserve sand on an eroding coast and applying the same rules to a desert.
Indeed. There’s water "use" and then there’s water "use".

California has a very liberal state government who think its' far more preferable to keep flushing water down the Sacramento river into the pacific ocean to keep some small species of fish alive than divert it to growers who keep people alive..!

Sure this is all too familiar to you guys' who are living a thru similar dream / nightmare.
This is good policy, dont waste good water on liberals, especially cali ones.
