AHDB council "vote"

I had a email this morning asking me to vote for existing and 2 new council members

None of the candidates I was ask to vote for have been nominated / seconded by farmers so I don't see that is actually a democratic process at all - its more a ratification of AHDB's interview and recruitment process that give a false sense of democracy that I do not believe is how they should operate.

I "voted" NO for all because of the above .......... if the majority do the same does none of them get elected ?

was also a technical mess - I was sent a single code and directed to website that required 2 codes !

3 emails later they gave me the 2nd code, most would have just given up by them I suspect

The whole voting process is undemocratic, they don't have a list of levy payers so how can they have a vote? I for one have not been emailed. I would like to ask the AHDB how the list is constructed.

I emailed AHDB today asking why they had not sent me an email to vote. They replied they used the voluntary list, used for the shape the future vote, and it was now too late to register. They should have advertised this vote for council members and given levy payers a chance to enroll. I have asked them to cancel the vote and follow proper procedures.

I voted on the shape the future vote but haven’t had todays vote.
Totally corrupt to the core. It needs to go as it’s of no use to U.K. agriculture.

I read the brief biographies. Anyone with Nfu or Nfu Scotland I voted no for. Many of them very much seemed like greasy pole climbers. May have been unfair on the odd candidate (I have read articles by some of them but know none of them personally) but a very reasonable way of screening in my view. I also voted no to the “trade” member. I think that left me with 1 farmer and a Niab agronomist. 🤣
I nominate @Feldspar and @Clive to represent me.
On a serious note, how did the new members get nominated? By existing members? Seems very Nfu like, not exactly democratic 👎. Without thorough extensive reform I’d vote no in a yes no referendum on the future of the ahdb.
