1st speaker very weak. Export chap much better. Only a £16m total budget so not enough to "change the world" or industry fortunes.
Will anything change from the discussion tonight, probably not, we were told that we were being presented with the Boards vision and plans.
Could have run an R&D project on ventilation as the room became VERY hot, probably all the hot air expended. Hope we don't all go down with virus pneumonia
My overall opinion was that the board/sector lacked imagination and drive. Budget allocations have really only been "tinkered" with.
If they really can deliver real value for levy payer money then they should be more ambitious, the fact that they stated levies would remain unchanged for 2017-20 on one of the slides shows that in real terms we will get progressively less for our money.
Thought Adam Quinney did a good job and clearly has a very detailed understanding of the beef industry (y)

fair few Dave

the 1st chap was weak and didn't stand up to questioning to well, I think he knew his job and his figures but not a very good speaker
the second chap peter ? I think was very good I thought chatted to him after, he is the sort that we need doing the job
Guths friend Laura was good but she had the short straw of telling us where they spend our money which is not a good job to a bunch of farmers

Peter who talked about exports has worked in the meat industry all over the world and for most of his life and it showed. We spoke to him afterwards he is a very interesting and competent person and ideal for talking to the government and foreign deals. The first chap knew all the 'corporate' speak but when asked questions did struggle. Laura was a bit better but she did have a difficult subject. Adam Quinney was quite good, again his experience of the industry showed.
@An Gof why didn't you come and say hello ?
