All I know is as kids we climbed on the school gates at break time and did the air horn motion to the passing wagons and most did it! Then fast forward 30 odd years and I was waiting to pull out of kielder water with my kids in the back and I did the downward pull to one of the many logging wagons and he did it!! Made my holiday! Girls think I'm daft

We have loads of quarry wagons pass our field wife told youngest daughter and little lad to do this, and they would beep back, she laughed and said we were joking,

they could not believe it when they beeped made there day and nearly every wagon too, they must have spent and hour in field

I think the film convoy had an influence, I remember being about 10, me and my mate were traveling with my dad in the landrover up the motorway, we both did the downward pull to a wagon traveling in the opposite direction on the motorway. A good and loud blast was returned. Even my dad chuckled, Funny how things like that stick in your mind.
